Astrid is a traditional square-rigged brigantine, sailing thousands of miles every year. She was built in 1918 in Scheveningen in the Netherlands and first served as a cargo ship.
Built in 1917-18, the Dutch three-masted schooner Oosterschelde originally worked undersail as a freighter along the African coast and around the Mediterranean.

Tall ship she may be, but the Mir is not very old. Launched in Gdansk in 1988, she is one of five tall ships built in Poland for the various Russian marine agencies in the late 1980s.
